Learning to read and spell is hard work, and some students struggle more than others. Although English is a well-ordered system that actually does make sense (really!), it often isn’t taught in a way that makes sense to kids. My mission is to help students untangle the system and thrive as readers.
I work with children and adults using Structured Word Inquiry, and would be happy to talk to you about your needs.
My mission is to teach students how English works, and that we do not need to memorize long lists of words and rules in order to be able to read and spell. Asking students to learn by memorization increases cognitive load, decreases motivation, and does not create readers.
What to expect:
Inquiry based, personalized lessons
Instructive, interactive, enjoyable lessons that help students understand the logic of English
Explicit instruction that teaches the interrelation of morphology, etymology, and phonology
